Welcome

Experiencing the emotional responses to life’s challenges can be very isolating. Finding the right support is crucial to managing these challenges and the emotional distress that often follows.

You do not have to do this alone.

Let’s work together to build and strengthen your resilience to fulfill your hope of living your best possible life.

I look forward to working with you.

My years of experience as a medical social worker and psychotherapy clinician have provided me with the expertise to assist you in identifying and working through the emotions and behaviors that do not serve you in a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental environment. My holistic approach is based on the theoretical approaches of mind body medicine, acceptance commitment therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.

I am honored to have my clients share the stories of their lives with me.

Specialties

The emotional distress and vulnerability experienced as a result of a medical diagnosis and its treatment can leave one feeling alone, unsure and overwhelmed. It interrupts our narrative life story. By building upon one’s own strengths and resilience you can become empowered to manage the physical and emotional symptoms of a chronic disease.

I have experience with most chronic diseases and specifically;

  • End stage renal disease/dialysis

  • IBD/IBS/Crohn’s

  • Multiple Sclerosis

  • Parkinson’s

  • Heart Disease

  • Cancer

  • COPD

  • Diabetes

  • Autoimmune Diseases

Organ Transplant

Organ transplant candidacy and surgery can create psychological distress that is unexpected and uncomfortable. It is normal to experience this gift of life as an emotional rollercoaster. Discussing these feelings openly and developing strategies to manage the stress that accompany the transplant journey can reduce anxiety and increase overall quality of life and ensure you are thriving.

Professional Health and Wellness

Chronic Illness

Psychological distress within health care providers is a common and normal experience. Let’s work together to build your own personal resiliency plan to manage burnout, stress and imposter syndrome. Perfectionism can be an impediment to healthy striving and overall professional success. Learning to incorporate self-compassion and challenging negative cognitions are some of my approaches.

Individual Mental Wellness

Emotions can cloud our insight and judgement or can a be a barrier to living life to its fullest. I work with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship issues. Through our work together you will develop resiliency tools that will provide relief from the symptoms of distress and create space for coping with life’s challenges.

Group Work

Group workshops provide a sense of connection through shared experiences. Workshops such as mind/body skills, stress reduction and expressive writing offer participants greater psychological well-being and greater sense of self.

I am available to educate and train medical providers, social workers and psychotherapists on the psychological aspects of those living with a chronic disease, end stage organ failure and organ transplant surgery.

My focus

is to enhance the strengths of a practitioner by offering an understanding of this vulnerable population and the best approach and treatment options.
